We can all do our little bit, one person at a time, it may seem like just a drop in the ocean but as I always feel it's one of many many drops to come.Tinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15552691097146215450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6913521903629178880.post-68306553065088747372010-02-22T15:25:15.203-05:002010-02-22T15:25:15.203-05:00Really great post. We need to find a way to get rid bullies... that's my solution :-)Monica Crumleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11292679754594755040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6913521903629178880.post-21224371612445730672010-02-21T20:48:23.225-05:002010-02-21T20:48:23.225-05:00I love, love, love this post. I do think that when we explain to people not to use that word it is a way to educate them, to explain that words are painful and hurtful. Hopefully we can approach people with kindness and soften their perspectives and increase awareness one person at a time. ;-)To Love Endlesslyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11528196412794557736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6913521903629178880.post-30477902245918521792010-02-21T16:29:35.163-05:002010-02-21T16:29:35.163-05:00Although I don't think I commented on that pos...Although I don't think I commented on that post, I loved the grace with which you handled the use of the rword.

As homeschoolers, our experience is much the same as yours thus far. When I read the part about "when she realizes what Down syndrome means to her"....I got this huge lump in my throat..you beautifully said the thoughts and feelings I have had and couldn't have expressed as well as you did.

Like you, I agree the rword is just part of the puzzle, and there will always be another word. "The worst thing is not being able to change people's minds about what difference and disability means. I think that only happens one person at a time..." I agree, again with a lump in my throat.Josettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03686244697972716604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6913521903629178880.post-72603333225467271142010-02-21T16:25:38.743-05:002010-02-21T16:25:38.743-05:00I agree. For me, it is the way the word is used.Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11835707066865156798noreply@blogger.com
